In the Myers Cemetery there are many unmarked gravesites. Some of the following names appeared in an early census compiled in 1937 by Hyldred Stinnett or in a later census by Edith Little Burns in 1980. Family Bible records and oral histories indicate other individuals may have also been buried in Myers Cemetery. We welcome any information you may have relating to the location of gravesites for individuals named below. We are unable to locate the graves of David McClanahan, his first wife Elizabeth (Dellis McClanahan and his second wife Molly Polly Ingram McClanahan.
Sam McClanahan’s grave in the back right side of the cemetery is marked with a fieldstone, however the gravesite of his wife Sarah Jane McClanahan is not marked.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION on the McClanahan’s and connected families. David McClanahan, along with his brothers James and Matthew, were the first McClanahans to settle in Tuckaleechee Cove around 1800. David owned a farm near Peter Snider’s place. David was married first to Elizabeth Dellis. David and Elizabeth children were: John, Samuel and Mary Jane. His second marriage was to Mary Polly Ingram. David and Mary Polly had seven children; Rebecca who married James Lewis Davis. Rebecca and James are buried about three rows from the back of the cemetery. Other children of David and Mary Polly were David, James, Mary, Mathew, Issac and Horner.

Most of the following names appeared on earlier census compiled by Stinnett and Little. These gravesites have been lost or the engravings can no longer be read. If you have information or clarification please let us know.

Abraham Law’s wife Delilo McCroskey is thought to have been interred in Myers Cemetery.
Abraham is buried in White Oaks, Cades Cove.
Special notes:
Martha A. Stephenson(small stone broken- part of stone missing) daughter of J.J. & A.B. Stephenson Sept. 23, 1839- only one date- stone leaning against large Stephenson marker. Need to find right location for her marker.
Martha Kerley(Caylor), wife of George (Hinkey) Caylor III, has two stones- one a newer foot rock and the other an older small stone approximately 15 feet from the newer marker.
